Mimosa Summer Chocolate
Albizia julibrissin 'Summer Chocolate'(Trees)
'Summer Chocolate' is not your grandmother's typical green-leafed mimosa. It joins the Forest Pansy Redbud, Japanese Maple and Purple-Leaf Plum as a wonderful burgundy addition to the landscape. This fast growing deciduous tree is one of the last to leaf out in Spring, but when it does, it continues to wow with its bronze-green airy compound leaves turning to luxurious burgundy-chocolate by Summer. When its pink pom-pom blooms arrive in late summer, the scent of melon fills the air. The pink blooms against the rich chocolate foliage definitely add interest to the landscape.
